Dr. Council was born and raised in Trenton, NJ. At a young age, she knew she wanted to become a physician and therefore enrolled at Xavier University of Louisiana for college, which is ranked #1 in the nation for the number of African American graduates who go on to complete medical school. With a background in public health, she is devoted to reducing health disparities and works mutually with patients to promote prevention. After obtaining her MPH, she studied at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences where she completed 2 years of her basic medical training on the beautiful island of St. Kitts before moving to Chicago to finish her final years of her medical education. Dr. Council graduated with high honors and continued her training at St. Francis Healthcare. It is there that her passion for underserved communities matured. She has experience in pediatric, adult, and geriatric care. Dr. Council also performs in-office minimally invasive procedures. Prior to joining Rockville Internal Medicine Group, Dr. Council served as physician with Medstar Health in Washington, DC. In addition to having an interest in general family medicine, her clinical interests include women’s health, hypertension, diabetes, and preventive medicine. She uses her background in public health and community health to enhance patient health.
