Meet Dr. Janelle Akomah! A doctoral - prepared nurse practitioner with over a decade of nursing care experience. She graduated from Towson University with a BS in molecular biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics. She began employment at Johns Hopkins Hospital in which she decided to pursue her advanced nursing degree. She graduated from University of Maryland Baltimore with a Masters in Nursing in 2009. She began working at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a registered nurse right after graduation. Her passion for patient care and advocacy led her to pursue her Doctorate in Nursing Practice and become a family nurse practitioner. While pursuing her degree; she became faculty at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She is still teaching at the University today. Angela Marshall, MD

Christina Council, MD, MPH

Dr. Council was born and raised in Trenton, NJ. At a young age, she knew she wanted to become a physician and therefore enrolled at Xavier University of Louisiana for college, which is ranked #1 in the nation for the number of African American graduates who go on to complete medical school. With a background in public health, she is devoted to reducing health disparities and works mutually with patients to promote prevention. After obtaining her MPH, she studied at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences where she completed 2 years of her basic medical training on the beautiful island of St. Kitts before moving to Chicago to finish her final years of her medical education.
